Madi Castro: cooking
A series of microphones were placed in the kitchen and connected to a mixer which is used to perform using volume levels and equalisation. The audience was separated from the kitchen from a semi-closed door that allows that the aromas subtly enter the room, and at the end of the concert small portions of the prepared dishes are served, and a dialogue about the event is encouraged between the guests.
This concert focuses on Madi Castro, a cook from the atlantic coast of Colombia who uses the sense of hearing to cook particularly fried fish, grilled beef and in situations when she is preparing
many recipes simultaneously. In the concert, Madi cooked a series of dishes where crunchy and crispy sonorities blended with bubbling sounds and with the repetitive sounds of chopping vegetables and opening plantains and coconuts.
